Hold onto your hats, lottery lovers! The Powerball jackpot has skyrocketed to an estimated $1.6 billion after no one snagged the grand prize in Saturday night's drawing. This massive sum is the fourth-largest in Powerball history and the fifth-largest among all U.S. lottery jackpots. Can you imagine what you'd do with that kind of money? This Monday's drawing will be the 46th in the current jackpot run, meaning it's been building up for quite some time!
The winning numbers from Saturday were 4, 5, 28, 52, and 69, with a red Powerball of 20.
This marks the second time Powerball has seen back-to-back jackpots exceeding $1 billion.
If someone wins on Monday, they'll have a big decision to make: take the annuitized prize, which is spread out over time and estimated at $1.6 billion, or opt for a lump sum payment of approximately $735.3 million.
While no one won the big one, several lucky players still walked away with significant prizes. Tickets sold in California, Florida, Iowa, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, and Ohio matched all five white balls, earning each winner $1 million.
Additionally, Saturday's drawing produced 112 tickets worth $50,000 and 22 tickets worth $150,000.
And there's more! A ticket in New Jersey won a cool $500,000 in the Double Play drawing by matching all five black balls. The Double Play is an add-on feature that lets players replay their Powerball numbers in a separate drawing for a chance to win up to $10 million.
But here's where it gets controversial... The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are a staggering 1 in 292.2 million. However, the odds are much better for smaller prizes, with some offering payouts as low as $4.
Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET.
